Dubrovnik and a swim

We have found this anchorage to be one of the best.  There are beautiful sunsets, clear waters for swimming, great food and ice cream, free internet, a bus station and our friends:  Rich, Bev, Nate, and CJ that we picked up via our water taxi…Jay Sea Dee Jr.  We even have a channel that broadcasts “King of Queens” and “Everyone Loves Raymond for an hour each in the evening…IN ENGLISH.  What more can you ask for?

The bus ride into Dubrovnik was the most scenic I have ever taken:

Today we visited Old Town Dubrovnik, a town with striking ancient walls surrounding it and alleyways waiting to be explored.  We walked the ramparts and then toured the Nautical Museum, Rector’s Palace, and the 5D Multimedia Museum with holographic scenes and a 3D history film.  The red-tiled roofs amongst the green just takes your breath away.  We had lunch near the Stradun (the city center as seen in picture #4) and listened to the bells chime from the belltower.  There are two green (due to their copper composition) men who strike the bell with their hammers.

At the nautical museum, they had a few photos from the 1991 bombings.  It is so hard to believe that only 20 years ago, this city was under siege.
