Visiting Belem

Our friends, Susie and Mark came to join us for a few days. On the first day we had to figure out a way to keep them awake so they could adjust to the new time a bit easier so off to Belem we headed. We headed there by Metro and the first place we passed was a the gorgeous Monestary of Jeronimos where many sailors said a final prayer before heading out on a discovery voyage. Inside are the remains of Vasco De Gama, the famous explorer. Then off to the art museum. A few of the pieces were outrageous but I guess it is all in the "eye of the beholder". Our next stop was off to the monument of "Henry The Navigator" (the first navigational explorer from Portugal) and the Age of Discovery.
