Experiencing True Portuguese Hospitality

We were treated to a real Portuguese meal by Joana, Maria and their mother, Margerita (sorry if I misspelled your names). They opened up their home to us and made bacalhau (cod fish which is the local specialty), baked potatoes, and a tomato-vegetable salad. It was all very delicious. Then Joana pulled out the dessert, a leite-creme dessert with burnt sugar on top...just awesome. We visited for hours and asked a lot of questions about the local food, places to visit, and the way to mail overnight packages here. Joana was an exchange student in Colorado for a year, hosted by Beverly Worford. We are planning on taking them sailing in the river on Sunday to thank them for their hospitality. Thank You So Much...we really enjoyed it!

Hi Jodi -- Glad to see you are back in business updating your blog! I look forward to watching your adventures from the USA! Will you email me (not via Picasa) a picture of you and John and JSD in Portugal so I can finalize the story for the Island Packet magazine? Enjoy! Debbie

Jodi - great updates to your blog. We are enjoying your adventures. I just got back last night from a week in Tulsa, (getting cuddle time with grand-daughter Anna Louise) while Charlie and Sooty supervised mechanics, carpenter, rigger, etc. here in Solomons Island, MD. Looks like we will be here for a few more days getting SSB installed, but I think that after today we can get away from the dock and out to a mooring. Love to you both. Jenny
